Spud is a Perfectionist
In this clip, Spud took speed before his job interview. He demonstrates how to show an employer that you are enthusiastic during a job interview. Watch this short video and learn valuable job interview tips from Spud. This one always makes me laugh, especially when the panel member asks, “Do you see yourself as having any weaknesses?”. Spud hesitates then remembers the canned response about how he is a bit of a perfectionist. As an interviewer, I can’t tell you how many times I have heard the “my weakness is that I am a perfectionist” interview answer. Unbelievably job seekers still respond with that overused interview answer. If you don’t believe it when Spud says it, why should we?
I Take Pleasure In Other People’s Leisure
The other fav moment comes when one of the panel interviewers asks, “What attracts you to the leisure industry?”. Spuds answer was “pleasure, I take pleasure in other people’s leisure”. Not only is it a good answer but it rhymes! Anyway, this is a very common job interview question. Other similar questions include, “why do you want to work for us?” or “what makes you interested in this position?”.
To answer this question, you should lay out two to three points from your qualifications that speaks to the employers requirements. For example in Spud’s case, suppose he was applying for a job in the travel industry. Spud could say, “I speak Spanish and French and would enjoy an opportunity to use my language skills to benefit the multicultural clients as mentioned in the job ad”
ps – I don’t recommend taking speed before your interview. Most applicants are nervous enough, so remember to take it easy on the coffee.
