Knowing Is Half Battle
Ever come out of a job interview wishing that you could have known in advance what you were going to be asked? Well, like G.I. Joe says, “knowing is half the battle”. Knowing what kind of job interview questions you will be asked is the key to helping you prepare. In this site, we share sample job interview questions with you. Not only do we share sample job interview questions, but we share job specific sample job interview questions. We have interview questions for a variety of jobs ranging form an account to a nurse, and from a web developer to a customs and border officer.
About Our Interview Questions – Benefit From HR Experience
Our sample job interview questions have been prepared by HR professionals with practical hiring experience. Having worked in corporate HR and hiring in industries such as gaming, health care, manufacturing, hospitality, IT, telecom, airlines, insurance and so forth we know first hand how employers think when it comes to interviews. There are many sites that provide job interview, resume writing advice and sample resumes. However, we create sample job interview questions based on actual hiring experience hiring for that specific position. For example, having hired for Collections Reps and I know that dealing with conflict and handling negative customer interactions are fundamental requirements due to the nature of the job. Burn out due to job stress is a common issue that employers hiring for this job want to avoid. So to screen for the required skills and traits in this job, we ask questions like: “Tell me about a time when you had to resolve conflict with an irate customer, coworker or supplier” and questions like “When was the last time you felt a lot of work stress? How did you handle it? What did you learn from this?” This is just one example of how our site is different from other similar sites.
Some sites give you “job interview answers” and some interview coaches tell you exactly what to say. You might not like to hear this but this but while this site does offer sample job interview questions, it does not contain sample job interview answers. I don’t think it’s right to tell someone what to say in an interview. I don’t think it’s fair to either the applicant or employer. The other reason we don’t “give job interview answers” is that you can’t, let me explain further.
In a job interview, your answer should be based on your unique job history. Your resume should support your answer and you should be prepared to provide a recent work-related example to illustrate your response. To further complicate this, there are thousands of job interview questions that an employer may choose to ask. For this reason, whether as a job interview coach or in our interview courses, we don’t tell you what to say. Instead, we do share tips on how to prepare for an interview, approach questions and improve your interview skills.
Best Interviewee vs. Best Qualified
Unfortunately any one in hiring can tell you that more often it is not the applicant who is the most qualified to get the job but one who interviews the best. All hiring professionals have made this mistake before, including myself. I can recall several examples of when I hired someone with high expectations because they interviewed well but who later performed poorly on the job. On the other hand, I have interviewed many qualified applicants who were bypassed due to a weak interview. Unfortunately, interviewing is far from a hundred percent fool proof process.
