Job Interview Body Language - Take Control

How important is body language in a job interview? During a job interview, your body language is just as important as your responses to the interviewer(s) questions.
About 85% percent of our interpersonal communication is nonverbal. How you sit, communicate style, eye contact and even facial expressions, provide a good assessment tool and impact how a candidate is perceived. Body language can make all the difference between job interview success and failure.

HRinmotion’s article, Improving Interview Body Language, looks at ways in which candidates can improve body language in a job interview and leave a positive impression with the interviewer(s).

While a candidate’s body language is important, so to is the physical posture and behavior of the interviewers. Even with a possible slowing economy, the supply of talent remains tight. This is evident by the unemployment rate remaining relatively low while news of a looming recession is high.

Both interviewee and interviewer are assessing each other. The interviewer is evaluating the applicant’s competence and likability while the candidate is deciding whether or not they want to work at the company.
